Funny you should mention Crows Carmen. This week I've been feeding a baby crow that was pushed out of the nest too early and that has been living behind my shed. Yesterday, I came home and he was gone, his tail feathers having grown in allowing him to fly away. Soar on Mr. Beaks, we'll miss you.

Oh, I'm a dog. For sure.

I'd like to be a lion or a bull. They seem more heroic or something, but I think I have a dog's nature.

"*Maybe I’m puerile, but am I the only one who sorta giggles when they read this short form?"

If that's puerile, I don't want to be...uh, whatever the opposite of "puerile" is...

I need sleep.

Don't change a thing, Andrew, (well, at least not in your blogs). As for the books you helped produce all the creative talent involved deserves to take a big bow!

I think everyone's going to need bibs when looking at Frank's work. Wow.

And bibs will come in handy for reading Knightcap, too, for when people laugh and spit out their drinks through their noses.

I can't wait to read Hero High and Rip Current -- they both look so fun.

I've never thought about the whole animal thing, but I'd probably be a dragon. They like to collect things, they like to sleep lots, and they like their meat barbequed.

So, Alex, what animal would you be??

This afternoon, the neighbourhood crows had a mid-day swarm a few blocks away. Probably 100 of them assembled in the air, chasing and cawing at something. They're so cool to watch. At one point, a group settled in the treetops and then at five second intervals, sent out three scouts to see what was going on at the swarmsite. Then, at a call, they took off at once and moved into the fray. I wondered if the next batch of crows in the treetops were the prior shift, taking a break. I like how crows hang in their family unit, and gather for larger chitchat gatherings at sundown. However, I'm not sure I would choose be a crow.

Nice editorial Alex - and thanks for the big push to the finish. Hero High has been a smooth ride, and I know that doesn't happen without a steady hand at the tiller.

Superheroes are one of the modern mythologies, gods and monsters, genesis and apocalypse. Human beings have always seen their own inner natures reflected in animals, and they have a long heritage in human culture. Throughout history, warriors would carry animal emblems with them into battle atop their helmets or emblazoned on their shields. Cities and nations use animals as their symbols; America the Eagle, Russia the Bear, Britain the Bulldog... Canada the Beaver...

Happy Canada Day!!!!!
