Hero High - part 4

Posted by alex under Hero High, Uncategorized |

I have a confession to make. I think about physics sometimes. I know this probably seems strange, but I was briefly a physics major in university.  I was pondering the idea of light behaving like a particle and a wave at the same time specifically in the ”Two-slit, light particle interference experiment . It occurred to me that if light particles were shaped like jellybeans, and spun rapidly, they might produce phenomena that mimicked both electrons and wave radiation. Does the possibility of light particles being shaped like jellybeans explain the quantum effect? What do you think?

Hero High continues to come together rapidly this week. Diego has pencilled over half of the book, and he continues to amaze us all with his imaginative (and speedy) rendering. Here’s a taste…

  • Jellybean photons is the right idea I think. I’m sure it’s just a lot more intricate than even that.

I totally dig your art in this page. Pops right up at me. When I go to the comic shop to scope for books I always follow the same routine. First I look at the covers and titles to see what might strike my fancy. If I’m attracted to a title (”Hero High’ is the kind of title I’d stop on), I check to make sure it’s not too deep into the run. I like to catch things from the start. If those criteria are met I’ll open it up and have a look inside. Once there the art has to be captivating. I’m open to any style, but it has to grab me. Your art would grab me easily. The last thing I look for are plot elements and story telling which is compelling. I’m a tough sell and haven’t started reading many new books in recent years.

This looks like a good one to me. Thanks, I’ll keep my eye on it.

  • thanx x man, I know what you mean about the art being number one priority when checking out comix. Diego has really brought the big guns to this book, and he will be inking and colouring too, so keep your eyes peeled for some great art on this one

  • Thanks for the comment, xman - the way this book is coming together I have no doubt it’s gonna fly off the shelf… you won’t be disappointed. Diego’s really been making the script sing, I gotta say.

If it becomes an ongoing, I have two story arcs planned out, so there’ll be lots of engrossing plot elements there if you look for them; but I do try to have a light touch with this one - not too heavy on the mythology - I don’t want to weigh down the reader with a lot of backstory. I think it’s important to keep the first time reader in mind when writing an issue, so I want to try to keep the meat of the story within the 22 pages - and have larger story arcs as bread crumbs to follow towards a big payoff.
